Greetings from the Johnson family! We are a homeschooling family with six children. We love educating our children at home and have been doing so for about 16 years. Two of our kids have graduated and we have four more to go! We have used various methods and curricula throughout the years, but have often found that a resource we wished for simply didn’t exist. These holes in the homeschool marketplace are what led us to create some of the materials that you will find throughout our family of websites.

We began our business – Knowledge Quest, Inc. – in 2001 with the desire to produce simple black and white maps that children could label and color while studying both world and American history. I can still remember that first map packet that we had copied at our local print shop :-). Our efforts eventually expanded into producing 10 foot wall timelines, a hardcover timeline book, a historical biography series along with some additional geography resources that would delight the whole family.

We have enjoyed working with other authors to bring you the best resources possible in the fields of history and geography. Recently, however, we became troubled by all of the uncertainty and doubt we were hearing from fellow homeschooling parents when they would call to inquire about books and products for their families. More often than not, the conversation would turn to other subjects, the most common being the fear of making mistakes and not feeling confident about their curriculum decisions, teaching methods and learning styles.

We stumbled upon the idea of teaching homeschooling parents how to homeschool with confidence and our Homeschooling ABCs class was born. Shortly thereafter, we unveiled our high school level class as well.

In 2011, our business took another exciting turn as we jumped into creating educational mobile apps, including Quest Magazine, for apple and android devices. This is an exciting time to be homeschooling and we are pleased that the Lord is leading us to be of greater help in the lives of others.

At the beginning of 2014, we unveiled two new mapping websites for families that love history and geography – Map Center and Map Studio. The first one is a site where you can purchase a single map for just 99 cents and the second website allows you to create your own map. We hope that you enjoy these new resources.

But most of all, we hope that you will join us on the adventure of homeschooling and enroll in Homeschooling ABCs. This is an endeavor with your children that you will never regret. Please feel free to send any comments or questions to us at helpdesk@knowledgequestmaps.com or write a comment below.

God bless!

    Hello,
I’m not sure if this is the proper place to leave a question or if you can even help me. I am getting overwhelmed in what to do for my child. I’m a single mom of a 6 year old boy. He is a very good boy and very smart, but the schools where we live are just, well not very good and very over crowded. My boy comes home crying at least 3 times a week over how much he hates it there, mostly from other children being mean and about his teacher. I don’t know what to do. I really want to try home school. I wanted to do this from the beginning, but I allowed others to talk me out of it. Now, I’m putting my foot down but it is hard all the negative things others say. I feel this is the best route for my son but I’m looking for some guidance and advice. Thank you so very much.

      Hi Beth,

Thanks for leaving your question here. Sometimes in life, we have to go with our gut instincts and tune out the naysayers. Those that love you and want your best, will support you even if they disagree with you at first. Here’s what I would do… I would pull your son out of school for the last month of this school year. Tell your friends and family that you are giving it a trial so you can make the big decision whether you should homeschool or not next year. Wow these naysayers with your dedication to your son’s education. Your commitment to his best interests academically, socially and emotionally will win the day. AND begin to surround yourself with others who are doing the same thing. Find a support group in your local community or (at least) online who will support you and encourage you in this journey.

Also, I would sign-up for the Homeschooling ABCs class. This will give you the jumpstart that you need to dive right in to homeschooling as soon as Monday morning, if you decide to. The class will give you the tools and the encouragement that you need to make this happen quickly and successfully so that you and your son can enjoy this process. We have a 30 day money back guarantee if the Homeschooling ABCs class is not all that you hope it to be.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. You are a good mom who wants to do the right thing by your boy. And you have the position and influence in his life to make it happen. I wish you joy and the best of success!

    Hi, Terri,

Congratulations on the new launch. If we previously subscribed to the ABCs, does our access end at some point or can we enjoy the new updates you’ve made? Also, at the time I purchased the ABCs subscription in Dec of 2012, I thought the 2013-14 year would be my one and only year of homeschooling, now we’re doing it again this year for my dd12’s 8th grade year. Do previous purchasers of the ABCs still get a discount on the high school one? I still have my order number if that is needed. Thanks,

    Cynthia

      Hi Cynthia,

Thanks for your comment. Oh, you certainly still have access to the complete ABCs course. Yes, we will be offering a discount for the high school level course very soon. In fact, keep an eye open for a special offer for parents of high school students today. We are getting ready for a free webinar next Tuesday. It should be fun!

      Hi Carla,

Absolutely. You can begin homeschooling any time, and now is a great time to start. That gives you from now until September to get comfortable with the routine. This will set you up for a great first full year.

Hi Terri, I am very interested in the homeschooling abc’s, but am wondering how it works exactly. I have 5 children all in different grades so would I be paying a one time amount for all children or do I have to pay the amount times 5? I am a little shy and sometimes I am learning more than my children and am trying to be a little more confident and prepared. Thanks so much for your time and all that you and your family have put into helping others.

      Hi Monica,

Thanks for writing. You only need one subscription of Homeschooling ABCs for your family. Please, just buy one! 🙂

Let me know if you have any other questions. Have a great day!
